Are you passionate about midwifery and home birth? We are a growing organization, and we need your skills and talents to help us grow! Please nominate yourself or others freely for any of these positions. Elections will be held in February.
FOIM Chair
_
The Steering Committee Chair
ensures the effective operation of FOIM, including meetings and events. The
chair acts as the representative of the full steering committee, and as a
representative of FOIM. The chair’s main responsibilities are to organize and
motivate FOIM members, facilitate meetings, develop web content, publicity, and events in consultation with other Steering Committee members, and serve as a spokesperson for the group.
FOIM Clerk

The Clerk documents the actions and activities of the Steering Committee and communicates with the membership at large about FOIM actions
and activities. The clerk maintains email listservs, maintains historical archives,
and assures that records are maintained. The clerk also helps to develop web content, publicity, and events in consultation with other Steering Committee members, and serves as a spokesperson for the group.
Membership Coordinator
_The Membership Coordinator is responsible for the overall recruitment of members throughout the state through the following duties: Maintain the membership database; use promotional incentives to attract members, hold membership drives throughout the year; notify members of expiring memberships and obtain renewals, communicate with new members and connect members with local chapters if available.
_ Events Coordinator

The Events Coordinator is responsible for seeking out ways to
promote midwifery awareness and advocacy during special events throughout the
state. The Events Coordinator will research and maintain a list of all activities in the state of
Iowa which FOIM could attend as representatives for advocacy and education of
midwifery, and communicate with steering committee and chapter leaders to
coordinate events, including: Lobby Day, Mothers and Midwives Picnic, Natural Living Expo and other tabling events, Labor Day Picnic, Walk for
Midwives, and the Born at Home Calendar.
Public Relations Coordinator
The Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for promoting FOIM
to the general public through the following duties: Prepare organizational publications, such as FOIM website,
brochure, and newsletter; Promote FOIM through social media outlets such as Facebook,
Twitter, Yahoogroups, and email; Update the national Big Push Campaign on current FOIM events.
Fundraising Coordinator
_The Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for overseeing FOIM’s
fundraising efforts through the following duties: Work with the Treasurer to measure past success of fundraisers
and current budget; lead statewide fundraising campaigns throughout the year; coordinate with regional chapter leaders on their fundraising
efforts in their local communities.
IMA Liaison

The IMA Liaison is responsible for working closely with the Iowa Midwives Association to coordinate efforts to fulfill FOIM's mission. The IMA Liaison represents FOIM during IMA meetings, communicates FOIM business
to IMA, and communicates with the FOIM Board about IMA meeting minutes, and
any IMA business relevant to FOIM’s efforts.
Regional Chapter Coordinator

The Regional Coordinator Director is responsible for ensuring that Regional Coordinators have the resources necessary to run local chapters
successfully through the following duties: communicate regularly with Regional Directors; hold quarterly meetings, virtual meetings, or conference calls
between Regional Directors to brainstorm ideas and discuss progress in each
local area; create and maintain an information packet for new Regional
Directors to assist them with starting local chapters and holding local events.
Regional Chapter Leaders
We currently have active chapters in Iowa City/Cedar Rapids, Central Iowa, the Quad Cities, and Northwest Iowa. Chapter leaders are responsible for coordinating local events, recruiting locally, and keeping in touch with regional members.
